Beautiful, Carl. Time moving between two worlds, motionless, almost breathless in one, eternally familiar and beckoning in another. The breadth and depth of your work continues to impress.
What a thoughtful article, Tim. It brought back memories of growing up in a Southern California town known for its orange groves. The smell of orange blossoms remains my most evocative memory of childhood and happiness. Thank you.
Tim, As always , held in deep suspense, lost in your world of words, senses enlivened and breathing suspended as you transport us into the core and soul of you and your experience. You are an inspiration of a life lived completely… and in exquisite references…
A great nod to the Particelli legacy tucked into your personal story, one that has me hoping today's soldiers were given something sweet this Easter or Passover, this spring, that quickens their senses in connection to where their love lies. May they feel hope.
Tim- You have done it again. You carefully took me onto your vessel, and then back into the Valley. Effortless travel with many sense memories- sea water lapping in the quiet, orange orchards with their transformative smell, and that first taste of salami... thank you so much. And then the wonderful comments. I love everything about this post and thank you from the bottom of my heart. And, it looks as though you were at least 12 on that bridge. How I wish that we (the government) were willing to ensure that our veterans had available the support and care they/you so deserve. Longing to know that the care necessary, whether physical or psychological, is being provided for those who have served so that we can live. Thank you for your service, and your beautiful words.

Grateful for the encouragement and support. Onward.
Tim, I felt I experienced each of setting in your story! I can't imagine only 3 of you were trained to steer in combat!!
Peace time to war time transition. Brutal in many respects.
I had the fly beat if it wasn't for the damn skimmer.
