Our experience with municipal compost was disastrous! Previously we had some weeds; after using their soil, we now have THICK GRASS 8” tall all over the garden!! Fortunately, after mowing with lawnmower, it dies back from too much sun, but it’s a pain, and with over 1,500 Sq ft of garden, it would be too costly to remove and replace all of the infected soil.
The weeds do come back because they are blown in but are so much easier to pull after the soil has been amended!!!! I sheet compost some areas yearly because the worms love it.

Make your own compost and make sure you do not put weeds with seeds in it. But you could do sheet composting to help the problem.
