Some of my most precious childhood memories include the time spent on my Grandfather’s Bale Lane ranch picking prunes and swimming in the Napa River.

Thanks, Connie, nice to hear from you. Thanks for sharing a bit about your life. My Grandfather Brown was a lovely man, who loved to laugh and had a real soft spot in his heart for his three grandsons. In the winter, he would start up the farm tractor and pull us on our sleds around in the snow. That was back in Illinois, where I grew up.

Fascinating discussion of the evolution of agriculture in Napa Co. I especially enjoyed the historical photos from both St. Helena and Napa Historical Societies. Is there a Calistoga Historical Society??

Thank you for your kind comments. No historical society in Calistoga but the Sharpsteen Museum in Calistoga, which is on Washington Street, has lots of exhibits and dioramas. And is the place where history lives in Calistoga.
