Taking a Stand

Welcome to Napa Valley Features, an independent digital publication dedicated to original, in-depth reporting on the people, places and forces shaping Napa Valley. We deliver clarity, context and independence — no fluff, no press release rewrites.

Our goal is to uncover and share the many dimensions of Napa Valley — from its food, wine and arts scenes to the challenges that affect the region’s long-term health and sustainability. Our coverage includes housing, agriculture, water and climate along with stories that highlight restaurants, wineries, small businesses and cultural life. We aim to present a complete picture, even when that means examining less flattering truths.

Our team includes experienced journalists, artisans, business leaders, activists, professionals and creative contributors. As residents and professionals, we have a vested interest in the region’s future and a commitment to reporting that serves readers first.

Our Weekly Lineup

We publish three days a week, with each edition offering its own focus:

  • Wednesday: A rotating edition focused on topics such as climate and environment, Wine Chronicles, gardening and other local reporting driven by the week’s news.

  • Thursday — Under the Hood (paid subscribers only): Data-driven analysis and deeper reporting, including clear sourcing and original visuals when the story benefits from them.

  • Friday — Friday E-dition: A lighter, culture-forward close to the week, with a mix of features, puzzles, photo essays and reader favorites.

Napa Valley Features is entirely subscription-supported with no advertising. We use a points-based system designed to distribute revenue fairly among contributors, rewarding quality, consistency and impact.

We also publish Sonoma County Features and Lake County Features, sister publications covering neighboring Northern California communities with the same editorial approach.

Editorial Integrity and Corrections Policy

Napa Valley Features

We believe in accurate, fair, and transparent reporting. That means we don’t just get the story right — we’re also clear about what happens when we make a mistake.

Here’s how we handle post-publication edits:

  • Factual corrections (names, dates, figures, quotes, etc.) are made as soon as verified and noted with a correction notice at the top of the article.

  • Minor edits (grammar, typos, formatting) that don’t affect tone or meaning may be made without a public notice — but we still track them internally.

  • We do not alter stories just because a subject is unhappy with how they’re portrayed. Journalism isn’t PR, and our job is to report — not revise history.

  • All significant edits are reviewed by the editor and documented in our internal change log.

Correction notices will always explain:

  • What changed

  • Why it changed

  • When it changed

Example:

Correction (Aug. 7, 2025): A previous version of this story misstated the year of the event. It occurred in 2019, not 2020. The article has been updated.

If you see something you believe is incorrect, we welcome factual clarifications.
Reach us at napavalleyfeatures@gmail.com. If it’s an error, we’ll fix it. If it’s a matter of preference or discomfort, we’ll kindly decline.

We take our responsibility seriously — to the facts, to our readers, and to the public record.
