Another insightful article, Tim. In reading your words, I flashed back to picking plums in the summers back in the 1950s. It was hot, and the days were long, but the heat was certainly not what it is today. I am glad to see that care is being taken to protect both the grapes and the workers. Back when I was growing up in St. Helena, there were few protections that I was aware of and it was always worrisome to know that the laborers were out in the vineyards and orchards day in and day out. I am relieved to know that all of the impacts of this heating up are being studied and addressed. It will be interesting to see how the Napa Valley and many other "tourist" locations alter hours and ways that visitors, workers, and residents can enjoy the beauty and offerings of the land.
