Music in the Vineyards returns for its 31st season with a four-week series of chamber music concerts exploring the theme of transformation, featuring artists such as the Borromeo, Pacifica and Ariel quartets at wineries and venues throughout Napa Valley. Friday, July 4, times vary. Parades, festivals and fireworks will take place countywide for Independence Day. In Napa, the parade starts at 9:30 a.m. with a festival at Oxbow Commons from 3 to 10 p.m. and a 9:30 p.m. drone show. St. Helena hosts a 10 a.m. bike ride, all-day festivities at Crane Park and fireworks after dark. Yountville’s family celebration runs from 4 to 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park (no fireworks). Calistoga’s parade begins at 11 a.m., followed by an afternoon Star Spangled Social at Pioneer Park with a laser light show after dark. Venus and Jupiter Conjunction
Aug. 12, predawn hours. Venus and Jupiter will appear very close together in the eastern sky before sunrise. Venus will shine brightly, while Jupiter will have a golden hue. Through a telescope, Jupiter’s banded atmosphere and Galilean moons may be visible.
Moon Near Saturn
Aug. 12, evening hours. The waxing crescent moon will pass close to Saturn in the night sky. Use a telescope to capture Saturn’s rings alongside the illuminated crescent moon.
