Welcome to Napa Valley Features, a community dedicated to capturing the true essence of the Napa Valley's distinct cultures, dynamic business environment and breathtaking scenery. Whether you are a local resident, a frequent visitor or someone who has never been here before, we invite you to join us as we discover this incredible place together.
Who are we?
At Napa Valley Features, we are a team of regional professional writers, photographers and other creatives who are all deeply connected to the Napa Valley. We are journalists who strive for accuracy, truth and integrity. We work tirelessly to provide our subscribers with authentic and candid profiles of local artisans, winemakers, culinarians and community leaders. Our imagery captures the stunning scenery and vibrancy of this area, and our reporting digs into stories you won’t read anywhere else, such as the impact of fires, climate change and the struggles of a stratified community.
What do we provide?
Our free subscribers receive weekly summaries of local news and upcoming events, and we provide even more information for our paying members: comprehensive profiles, in-depth business insights and critical breaking news
Why?
Napa Valley Features is more than just a newsletter, a forum or a newspaper features section. It is a robust place where individuals with shared interests can connect and ensure that this extraordinary region remains informed, vibrant and thriving for generations to come.
What’s next?
This week we have my piece on Calistoga’s Picayune Cellar’s opening – probably the hippest new wine-tasting venue in the valley. We also have a piece written by former Napa Valley Register editor, Sasha Paulsen, about two local mothers – Violet Grgich and Heidi Kuhn – who are making the world a better place through their cultivating peace through agriculture initiative, “Roots of Peace.” On Thursday hear from wine expert Dan Dawson as he brings us his insider insights into the world of Napa Valley wines, and then on Friday we hear again from Paulsen with her top picks for weekend activities.
Because we are subscriber-funded, please consider sharing this message with friends, family and anyone who might value local journalism. And if you are a free member, please consider taking out a paid subscription. For just a few dollars a month you can help sustain and support our mission to provide news you can’t get anywhere else.
Thank you for joining us on this journey. We look forward to exploring the Napa Valley with you.

You can expect journalists writing pieces ranging from simple profiles to in-depth pieces on the business of wine, food and art. There will also be the opportunity for local experts to provide their recommendations on things to do or interesting wines, for example. If you have any tips or suggestions we’d love to hear them. We don’t take advertising and are subscriber based. We write for our readers.
What great pictures, I'm pleasantly surprised. Welcome to Substack! I'm sure your articles will be very interesting.
